Heroes Behind the
Badges Helps the Community Blood Supply
The first
annual Heroes Behind the Badges blood drive in
Murray County ended with great success.
The blood drive
held on June 29 was a friendly competition
between Murray County Law Enforcement and
Murray County Fire Department.
The two
departments put up a good fight, but in the
end, it was the Fire Department winning by
one donation.
During the blood drive, donors could designate
their donation to the department of their
choice. All blood collected helped local
patients. There were eleven new donors that
attended this blood drive.
"This was a super
event,” states Ken Versteeg, Executive
Director, Community Blood Bank.
“During the summer months, the blood supply
is challenged due to increase usage and a
decrease in donations. This was a well
attended blood drive and will help save
local patients' lives.”
