The annual
“Raise the Steaks” blood drive becomes the
8th annual “No Worries” blood drive Saturday
July 28th from 7am to 4pm at Lewis Drug’s
41st and Minnesota location in Sioux Falls.
“We decided
to change the name to draw attention to what
the community is really doing for the
summer, to help us have no worries for
summer blood shortages,” said Ken Versteeg,
Community Blood Bank Executive Director.
“The goal is to collect 200 donations of
blood in one day. Summer is a difficult time
of year for us in the blood bank. We just
want to make it fun and convenient for
people to donate during the event.”
Sioux Falls
and area families are invited to join
employees of Outback Steakhouse, KELO AM,
Cookie Cutter and Lewis Drug to donate blood
on the bloodmobiles. There will be muffins
baked by Cookie Cutter for those early
risers. The Outback Steakhouse will be
grilling complimentary food on-site for
everyone that signs up to donate blood. The
first 200 that sign up will get a free event
t-shirt and a chance to win other prizes.
Donors must
be at least 17 years old, 110 lbs or more
and be in good general
health the day of the donation. It is
recommended that you eat and drink plenty of
fluid prior to donating. Please bring an
I.D. with you. For more information call
331-3226 or log onto www.cbblifeblood.org .
