“Raising the Steaks” Blood Drive Helps Avoid

Summer Blood Shortages

The 5th Annual “Raising the Steaks” blood drive was a great success with a total of 201 units being donated on July 24th.  Donors were able to make a difference in the summer blood supply, enjoy a steak after their donation, compliments of Outback Steak House and register for some super prizes.

The blood drive was held at Lewis on 41st and Minnesota with Talk Radio 1320 KELO AM, Krispy Kreme Donut, Coke, Monarch Sales, Healing Arts Message Studio and Outback Steak House all joining in to make this event a record breaker.

“This event was a record breaker and truly helped avoid summer blood shortages in the community,” states Ken Versteeg, Executive Director, Community Blood Bank.  “Even though it was one of the hottest days of the summer, residents supported the blood drive and saved many local lives.  We could not do this without the help of our friends, supporters and the great donors in the community.”
