Watertown Heroes Draws 232 donations
Watertown, SD, police and fire departments members joined Prairie
Lakes Healthcare and Community Blood Bank for
the first annual
Heroes Behind the Badges blood
drive at the W atertown
Mall December 22nd and 23rd.
Watertown
police and fire departments joined together
with KWAT radio, the Watertown Mall and area
residents to see which department could
recruit the most donors on behalf of Prairie
Lakes Healthcare.
Watertown’s
Fire Department won
the
traveling trophy by attracting 154 donors, to
Watertown Police’s 120,
culminating in 232 blood donations over the
two-day event.
KWAT
Radio’s Robbyn Gauger hosted her “What’s Up”
program on the second day of the blood drive.
The 232 units of blood helped Community Blood
Bank stock its shelves for the Christmas
weekend. Community Blood Bank donors are the
sole and exclusive suppliers of blood and
blood products to the patients of Prairie
Lakes Healthcare in
Watertown.
