HyVee Stores teamed up save lives throughout
the summer, by hosting blood drives at all
five HyVee locations. The blood drives were
held at times during the summer when many
community members were going on vacation and
forget to donate blood.
“These blood
drive events truly benefited the community’s
blood supply,” stated Ken Versteeg,
Executive Director, Community Blood Bank.
“The summer is the most difficult time of
year to maintain an adequate blood supply.
Hy-Vee employees and patrons helped save
lives.”
All total
there were 98 donation of blood at the
Hy-Vee stores making a difference in up to
294 lives. The winner of this year’s Hy-Vee
Challenge was the 26th & Sycamore location.
The gift of blood is an awesome gift with
life saving results.
Donors must
be weigh 110 pounds or more, at least 17
years old, and be in good general health.
