The Community
Blood Bank is a non-profit, joint, cooperative
venture of Avera McKennan Hospital &
University Health Center and Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls. The mission of the
Community Blood Bank is to ensure a safe,
reliable supply of blood in Sioux Falls and
the communities we serve in eastern South
Dakota, southern Minnesota and northwest Iowa.
The
Community Blood Bank is the sole supplier of
blood and blood products to hospitals in:
South Dakota
Sioux Falls (Sioux Valley, Avera McKennan, The Heart Hospital of South Dakota
and the VA Medical Center),
Brookings, Flandreau, Dell Rapids, Canton,
Freeman, Madison, Chamberlain, Viborg,
Watertown, and Vermillion.
Minnesota
Jackson, Luverne, Pipestone, Slayton, Tracy, Tyler,
Westbrook, Windom and Worthington.
Iowa
Rock Rapids, Rock Valley, Estherville,
Sheldon, and Sibley.
Your regular
donations make sure blood is available to
these hospitals and patients in the
surrounding communities 24 hours a day, seven
days a week.
When you see the
Community Blood Bank bloodmobile in your town,
you can be assured that your donation along
with others is coming back to help your
community and local health organization. Our
bloodmobiles go to the areas we supply,
ensuring that blood will be available for your
friends, neighbors, family, maybe even YOU.
If you are referred to Sioux Falls for further
treatment, that blood will be available for
you.
To ensure an
adequate supply, the Community Blood Bank
relies on volunteer donors in Sioux Falls and
throughout the region. To host a Community
Blood Bank bloodmobile drive in your town,
business or church, call Rita Nelson at (605)
331-3222, or toll free (877) 877-3070.
