
Sioux Falls, SD-The 15th Annual “Heroes Behind the Badges” blood drive event ended with great success. The event held December 28th – January 6th was a competition between Sioux Falls Fire Rescue and the Sioux Falls Police Department. The final tally places the Sioux Falls Fire Department as the winners of this year’s event with 375 donation votes to the Sioux Falls Police Department’s 346 donations votes.
During the blood drive donors could designate their donation to the department of their choice. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue will present a $350 check to the Children’s Home Society compliments of Citibank. Sioux Falls Police Department will also present a $150 check to the South Dakota Special Olympics.
“With the challenging winter weather affecting the beginning of the event, the Heroes Behind the Badges ended with amazing, life saving results,” states Ken Versteeg, Executive Director, Community Blood Bank. “We saw over four hundred donors come into donate within the last three days of the competition. There was a total of 721 participates making this years event one of the best ever.”
