Sioux Falls, SD-The 10th annual “No Worries” community blood drive is scheduled for Saturday, July 24th from 7am to 4pm at Lewis on 41st Street & Minnesota Ave.

“This blood drive is held at a time during the year when blood supplies are low and challenged due to a decrease in donating and a consistent demand for blood for our patient,” states Ken Versteeg, Executive Director, Community Blood Bank. “This is the time of year when people are busy with summer activities and vacations. They tend to forget about donating blood. In years past this blood drive has been the single largest drive of the year, drawing on an average of 200 units of blood. Our goal is to collect 200 units of blood that will impact up to 600 patients’ lives and help us get through the rest of the summer.”

Area residents are invited to join KELO AM, Outback Steakhouse, Camille’s Sidewalk Café, Lewis Drug, and United Rental to donate blood on Community Blood Bank’s bloodmobile. Those donors donating between 7:00am and 9:00am will receive free breakfast compliments of Camille’s Sidewalk Café. The Outback Steakhouse will be there handing out special Outback Steakhouse certificates to all who donate. There will be special treats throughout the day compliments of the Cookie Cutter. The first 200 that sign up will get free event t-shirts and a 2 liter of Pepsi product. All who sign-in to donate can register for a chance to win great prizes.

Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with signed parent consent form), weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good general health the day of the donation. Please bring an I.D. It is recommended that a person eat and drink plenty of fluid prior to donating blood. For more information call Community Blood Bank at 331-3222.
