Jackson, MN-Jackson Law Enforcement and Jackson Fire / EMS Department will be competing to see who can recruit the most blood donors for the community’s blood supply in the second annual “Heroes Behind the Badges” community blood drive.
The “friendly competition” between the departments will be held at Sanford Jackson Medical Center on Monday, December 14 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm. Community Blood Bank’s bloodmobile will be there taking blood donations. All the blood donations collected will help make a difference in the local blood supply and help save local lives. The public is encouraged to come in to donate and designate their donation to the department of their choice. The department credited with the most blood donations will receive a trophy and bragging rights for a year.
“This blood drive will truly help increase the blood supply going into the holiday weeks ahead,” states Ken Versteeg, Executive Director, Community Blood Bank. “This is a fun way to help the local blood supply and recognize those organizations within the community that save lives on a regular basis.”
Donors must be 17 years of age or older (16 years old with a signed parent consent form - access the consent form), weigh 110 lbs. or more and be in good general health the day of the blood drive. Community Blood Bank is the sole provider of blood to Sanford Jackson Medical Center. Please bring an ID with you. It is recommended that a person eat and drink plenty of fluids prior to donating blood. For more information please or to make an appointment please call 847-6953. Walk-ins are welcome
